women in sports

Over the weekend as many of you know we had a state wrestling tournament held in casper up at the events center. On friday when i was at work my boss told me that he had read in the paper that there was a Female wrestler in the state tournament and there was a male wrestler that said he REFUSED to wrestle a female because he was raised to not treat women like that and it was against his morals. So he would not wrestle her... My question is was this hurting or helping her by refusing to wrestle her. was he scared of loosing to a girl? or did he truly believe that it was inappropriate and against his morals to do so? In my opinion she was the one that is choosing to compete in a man denominated sport so it's okay treat her equal. I am shore that she would not be wrestling if she didn't think that she could compete at a males level! more power to her!

Increasing Leadership roles

As i was reading throuought chapter five i thought that it was intresting that in the early 19th century that most teachers were men but by the late 1880's the majiorty up to 9o percent were women. In 1982 up to one fifth of all New England women served as teachers at some point in there lives. They say that what caused this expansion was that hireing women was a matter of priactial finances because women were cheaper to pay for the same job. I found this very disturbing considering that i am going to school to be a teacher. Now that they did that they are in high demand of male teachers because they are good role models for male students.

As we were reading in class last night i found that it was very intresting that womes and class is depentent upon their husbands income it is not dependent on whomever makes the most money. i found this very intresting but true.I remember looking back to when i was growing up and listening to adult conversations and such saying "oh well so and so husband dose this. even today i think that we still do it even us women i know that i do whithout even thinking about it. if someone has a fair amount of money and you can tell and you are talking to someone about it you say oh well there dads and engineer or a lawyer or doctor.
